About the role

We’re an award-winning heavy civil contractor that offers an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and annual profit sharing.

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate, competitive estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and timelines using HCSS HeavyBid
• Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to identify scope, risks, and opportunities
• Perform precise quantity takeoffs and identify all required work activities
• Evaluate cost scenarios including subcontracting vs. self-performance strategies
• SOURCE AND ENGAGE SUBCONTRACTORS AND MATERIAL SUPPLIERS
• Track, evaluate, and pursue new project opportunities
• Lead the handoff of awarded projects from Estimating to Operations
• SUPPORT THE OPERATIONS TEAM WITH CHANGE ORDER CLARIFICATION AND PRICING
• Contribute ideas to improve project outcomes and competitiveness

Requirements

• 3–5 years of heavy civil earthwork estimating experience
• Bachelor’s in engineering or construction management or equivalent experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to manage multiple priorities
• Solid understanding of construction methods, means, and sequencing
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, engineers, and vendors
• Valid driver’s license

Qualifications

• Nice to have: HCSS HeavyBid, Agtek or Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD (earthwork takeoff)

Pay

Base salary: $80,000 - $105,000 depending on experience
