Estimator

About the role

The Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for cast-in-place concrete and structural steel scopes on projects throughout New York City. This role requires a strong understanding of NYC construction practices, union labor, logistics constraints, and regulatory requirements.

Location: Roslyn, NY and New York, NY; Status: Full-Time; Reports to: Director of Operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs for foundations, slabs, walls, columns, rebar, and occasionally structural steel.
• Develop complete cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Review drawings, specifications, and addenda; identify scope gaps and risks.
• Prepare competitive bid proposals and participate in bid strategy meetings.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Assist project teams with budgets, Schedule of Values (SOV), and change orders.
• Account for NYC logistics such as limited access, hoisting, and permitting.

Qualifications

• 3-10+ years of estimating experience in concrete and/or structural steel.
• Strong knowledge of NYC construction means, methods, and union labor.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications.

Skills

• Estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Familiarity with Procore or Autodesk Build preferred.
