About the role
At Gothic Landscape, every successful project starts with a great estimate. We're seeking an Estimator who can see the details, understand the scope, and help set our teams up for success.
What You'll Do
- Review construction plans, specifications, and bid documents to fully understand project scope and requirements.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff (OST) software.
- Prepare detailed estimates using Sage Estimating (or similar estimating software).
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate bids.
- Analyze material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs to develop complete project estimates.
- Prepare cost analyses and identify opportunities for value engineering while maintaining project quality.
- Identify discrepancies, omissions, or potential risks within construction documents and communicate them to leadership.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure estimates align with project goals and operational expectations.
- Participate in estimating meetings and support continuous improvement within the department.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of construction estimating experience, with commercial landscape construction estimating experience preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
