About the role
We are seeking a self-motivated individual to join our growing Estimating Team. Candidates must have previous estimating experience, preferably in the water, wastewater, or industrial markets. Proven experience estimating heavy civil earthwork, cast-in-place concrete structures, underground yard piping, and/or above-grade process piping systems is required. Estimating experience with at-risk self-performing contracts is preferred over construction manager at-risk delivery methods.
Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for water and wastewater treatment projects.
- Reviewing project documents, plans, specifications, and addenda completely and accurately.
- Analyzing and compiling estimate data that impacts the cost of labor, materials, equipment requirements, location, and other factors.
- Working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Soliciting and analyzing subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Developing and maintaining business relationships with small businesses, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Providing input on value engineering.
- Providing conceptual estimates from limited information with assumptions and clarifications.
- Preparing contingency and risk analysis for the estimate and pre-review.
- Communicating estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure understanding of the scope of the job and critical means and methods of construction.
Requirements
- 2+ years of construction estimating experience.
- Proficiency in interpreting construction drawings and understanding specifications.
- Ability to review take-off quantities to ensure accuracy of data used in estimates and review drawings, specifications, and proposed project site conditions.
- Motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills and experience working in collaborative environments.
Qualifications
- Preferred but not required: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, business administration, or equivalent work experience.
