About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our dynamic team at Dynalectric Company San Diego. This role involves preparing detailed cost estimates for a variety of electrical projects, collaborating with clients, and assisting in the bidding process.

Responsibilities

• Collect, calculate, and compile historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future projects.
• Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Prepare estimates used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
• Analyze blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Review design options and recommend best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
• Aid in the development of value engineering and alternative design concepts.
• Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Attend walk-throughs, pre-bid and scope clarification meetings.
• Quantitative take-off and computer entry.
• Prepare scope letters and proposals.
• Maintain relationships with customers, General Contractors, vendors and subcontractors.
• Coordinate the efforts of junior and staff-level resources in performing take-offs, issuing bills of material to vendors and obtaining subcontractor and/or vendor quotes.
• Coordinate efforts and collaborate with the Preconstruction Team, Estimators, Architects, Engineering Department, etc.
• Aid project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in work.
• Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Vice President of Preconstruction with recommendation for resolution.
• Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
• Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.

Qualifications

• PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 3-6 years’ experience in estimating/preconstruction services or 5+ years related experience in the construction industry. Design/Build experience preferred.
• High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor of Science in engineering or construction related field desirable.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, the construction industry, construction materials, market conditions, trade practices, and contract documentation.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, familiarity with Accubid and other electrical, technical, or construction programs, and project management/document control software.
• Physical Demands: Regularly sit, see, talk, and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds; navigate around job site locations; work outdoors, be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical and electrical parts, high, precarious places, dust, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight, cold and heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration; work in moderate to loud noise environments.
• Work Environment: Full time in-person attendance with occasional travel to field locations.
