About the role
This position is part of the Preconstruction and Estimating Team and involves various estimating functions including proposal analysis, requirement assessment, and detailed cost estimation for construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Explore documentation to understand project requirements and create and validate detailed project budgets
- Visit sites and warehouses to gather data and validate existing conditions, including reviewing progress drawings for accuracy
- Coordinate with designers, developers, and construction trade partners to ensure accurate progress drawings and provide feedback to ownership
- Perform complex data analysis and metric reviews
- Work closely with the project management and pre-construction teams to ensure all subcontractors and vendors are hired to meet project requirements
- Maintain an up-to-date database of industry cost information to prepare relevant and reliable forecasts
- Create and present reports to senior management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key vendors, subcontractors, and field staff
- Thoroughly understand and apply all aspects of project management controls including scheduling, estimating, cost control, procurement, and business development
- Complete quantity take-offs
- Have a strong working knowledge of cloud-based project management tools such as Blubeam, Microsoft Office, Asta, or Microsoft Project, and have experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and scheduling software
- Show fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting
- Assist with researching and evaluating new construction and estimating software and programs to streamline preconstruction services and estimating
- Assist with implementation and training
Requirements
- Strong computer skills, specifically in construction management software like Blubeam and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and scheduling software is a plus
- Extensive knowledge of construction business
- High-level interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
- Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively

Education and/or Experience
- 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture
- 2-year Associate's Degree in any of the above stated fields, plus 2 years of relevant experience in construction and/or estimating
- 4 years of relevant equivalent experience
