About the Role
The Estimator is primarily responsible for determining the approximate cost associated with vehicle damages and the timeline for repairs. This role involves negotiating insurance payments and communicating costs to customers.
Responsibilities
- Examines all parts of the vehicle that appear damaged and require repair, replacement, or repainting.
- Assesses vehicle damage through inspections.
- Estimates the cost of labor and car parts to repair damage.
- Prepares insurance forms to show repair cost estimates.
- Communicates professionally with customers about vehicle damage, costs, and insurance, addressing any questions.
- Drafts work orders with required repairs and enters them into CollisionRight’s system.
- Maintains records of all repairs in company files.
Qualifications
- Solid working knowledge of processes, techniques, and materials used in repairing automotive equipment.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the collision repair industry.
- Extensive knowledge of vehicle structure to remove and replace damaged components (e.g., doors, windscreens, fenders).
- Demonstrated understanding of safety precautions required for the role.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally over 70 pounds.
- Demonstrated agility, equilibrium, and coordination for climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing under precarious conditions.
- Strong arm, hand, and finger dexterity with the physical capacity to reach, handle, and feel.
- Strong negotiation skills and a commitment to customer service.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
