ESTIMATOR
About the role
The Estimator is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and organizing information that supports accurate project costing and the efficient flow of materials and components throughout production. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely coordination, clear communication, and smooth operational performance within the glazing industry.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and compiles all necessary materials for estimation, including proposals, architectural drawings, blueprints, specifications, and related documentation.
- Performs customer take-offs and calculates project costs by evaluating labor, materials, and time requirements.
- Identifies, investigates, and resolves discrepancies through thorough information gathering and analysis.
- Prepares specialized reports by collecting, reviewing, and summarizing data, patterns, and emerging trends.
- Updates, maintains, and safeguards the cost database through accurate data entry and routine backups.
- Supports team objectives by completing related tasks and contributing to shared operational outcomes.
Requirements & Competencies
- Strong ability to prioritize workload and work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with consistent deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
- Demonstrated strengths in collaboration and teamwork
- Initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Adequate organizational skills and attention to detail
- Solid technical aptitude and ability to understand production processes
- Sound decision-making skills
Experience & Education
- 2 to 5 years of experience, preferably within the glazing industry
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with customer take-offs and shop drawings
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings
- Proficiency with estimating software, including Glazier Studios and Bluebeam

Work Environment
- Based in a professional office setting
- Requires on-site attendance
- Uses standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines
- Remote work is not available
Physical Demands
- Primarily sedentary, though periodic filing tasks are necessary
- May involve lifting files, accessing filing cabinets, and bending or using a stool to reach items as needed
- During certain tasks, the employee may be in proximity to moving mechanical equipment
- The work environment can be loud at times
