Estimator
Responsibilities
- Prepare full-cycle estimates for ground-up, renovation, and tenant improvement projects.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs across multiple CSI divisions using estimating and digital take-off software.
- Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and addenda to fully understand the project scope.
- Solicit subcontractor and vendor pricing and actively follow up to ensure adequate bid coverage.
- Level and scope subcontractor bids to confirm completeness and alignment with project requirements.
- Prepare scope sheets, bid tabs, and detailed estimate backup documentation.
- Identify scope gaps, overlaps, constructability concerns, and potential cost savings within estimates.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and internal bid reviews to support accurate and competitive proposals.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to validate pricing assumptions, logistics, and project strategies.
- Auxiliary in preparing conceptual budgets and schematic estimates during early project phases.
- Maintain and strengthen subcontractor relationships within the local general contracting market.
- Contribute to maintaining and updating historical cost data and unit pricing databases.
- Support value engineering efforts and alternate pricing exercises as directed by senior estimating staff.
- Auxiliary in the preparation of proposals and construction estimating packages as needed.
Essential Skills
- 2–4 years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor.
- Proficiency in performing detailed quantity take-offs using digital take-off and estimating software.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Experience with construction estimating processes, including cost estimating and bid preparation.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
- Skill in reviewing and leveling subcontractor bids to ensure complete scope coverage.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar tools for digital take-off and document review.
- Strong analytical skills to identify scope gaps, overlaps, constructability issues, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Ability to prepare scope sheets, bid tabs, and supporting estimate documentation.
- Strong communication skills for participation in pre-bid meetings and internal bid reviews.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with a commercial general contractor in a local market environment.
- Familiarity with general contractor operations, including coordination with field and project management teams.
- Experience contributing to conceptual budgets and schematic estimates.
- Exposure to maintaining historical cost data and unit pricing databases.
- Experience supporting value engineering and alternate pricing exercises.
- Background in preparing proposals and construction estimating documentation.
- Interest in professional growth opportunities within a growing, multi-generation construction organization.
Work Environment
This role operates in both office and construction environments. In the office, the Estimator uses digital tools such as estimating software and Bluebeam to perform take-offs, review blueprints, and prepare detailed estimates and proposals. The position also involves interaction with active construction sites, participation in pre-bid meetings, and collaboration with project teams and subcontractors.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $50.00/hr.
