About the role
As a Material Estimator 3, you will develop accurate material lists from architectural plans for residential, multi-family, and commercial construction projects. You will ensure lists are produced accurately and timely based on blueprints provided by customers, with a strong understanding of commonly used framing concepts and practices within the construction industry. This role requires a commitment to the company’s mission and goals, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Develop accurate material lists including quantity and type of materials to be used
- Ensure conformance to all relevant building requirements and municipality building codes, if applicable
- Interpret design requirements as indicated by procedures, design manuals, and other applicable specifications
- Generate detailed cut sheets for final construction
- Ensure material lists are accurate, optimized, and conform to standards
- Train new associates and review team members' takeoffs for accuracy
- Demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement and continuous improvement processes
- Actively respond to the needs of all customers and participate as a team player
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the job role
Requirements
- Knowledge of residential, multi-family, and commercial construction framing practices, codes, and carpentry
- Ability to complete takeoffs for framing, siding, roofing, windows, and concrete
- Willingness to learn modular home takeoffs, including framing and interior/exterior packages
- General computer knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with blueprint takeoff software
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
- Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of work
- Efficiency in completing assignments within deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Effective communication with team members and a strong teamwork ethic
Qualifications
Associate degree in a related field preferred, along with at least 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
