Estimating Coordinator
About the role
MGE Underground is a utility infrastructure contractor based in Paso Robles, California. Our mission is to provide innovative construction solutions to our clients' expanding utility and infrastructure needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist Estimators with coordinating projects and documentation in support of producing and assembling accurate bids.
- Work within the Estimating Department to solicit subcontractor bids, distribute plans to qualified bidders, and follow up and review bids with Estimator and/or Project Manager.
- Manage/create, distribute, and/or submit documents related to and generated by the bidding and/or proposal process.
- Pull and organize bid items electronically in HeavyJobs and Vista.
- Complete prequalification packages.
- Support Estimators in their bids.
- Create and maintain project bid lists, Estimating Team Pre-Construction Database, and vendor/subcontractor information in company database.
- Aid when needed to prepare project bid packages.
- Enter estimates in HeavyBid based on RFPs submitted by project management.
- Log pre-fields into Precon and place pre-field into job folders.
- Document procurement using SAP.
- Perform job setup for major and routine emergency call outs.
- Compile and submit Subcontractor and Supplier Utilization Plan (Exhibit 1a).
- Research and gather information for new bid opportunities.
Requirements
- General understanding of construction terminology.
- Ability to read and understand Contract Documents including contract drawings, specifications, request for proposal/qualifications, contracts, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including spreadsheets, schedules, RFI's, etc.
- Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Able to regularly interact with peers, customers, and management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Foster and maintain a positive team environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree (or currently enrolled to pursue a degree) in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of administrative experience.
- 2 years of experience working in a construction environment.
Skills
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
- Effective prioritization and task execution.
- Strong communication skills.
