About the Role

The Spa Esthetician provides exceptional skin care and related spa treatments with professionalism, a customized approach, and over-the-top hospitality to spa guests. This role supports the company’s goals, objectives, vision, mission, and values as an active business partner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide spa services to guests in a timely, courteous, and efficient manner, including skin care, hair removal, nail services (if licensed), body treatments, foot soaks/treatments, and more.
  • Maintain an agreed-upon retail sales-to-service ratio with spa products, gifts, and accessories.
  • Maintain an agreed-upon minimum upsell percentage.
  • Attend pre- and post-shift meetings.
  • Participate in maintaining backbar expenses.
  • Complete all necessary record-keeping tasks related to spa operations.
  • Participate in all advanced training.
  • Escort guests to and from treatment rooms gracefully, attending to their needs throughout their visit.
  • Assist with guest inquiries, coordinate service requests, and maintain impeccable spa cleanliness.
  • Ensure guest comfort and safety during treatments.
  • Maintain work areas with necessary supplies, sanitation, and disinfection procedures, ensuring rooms are immaculate at all times.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly deep-cleaning responsibilities.
  • Assist with cleanliness of all spa areas, including locker rooms.
  • Support fellow associates with daily operations to foster teamwork and contribute to spa success.
  • Assist with additional functions as requested by the Spa Manager, Director of Rooms, or General Manager, including spa, lounges, retail, pool, and indoor/outdoor areas.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • 2+ years of experience as an Esthetician in a stand-alone or hotel spa environment (or equivalent experience; less may be acceptable with advanced training).
  • California State Esthetician License from the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Luxury spa experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Advanced training in holistic and/or clinical skin care, aromatherapy, and body treatments.
  • Knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, botanicals, thalassotherapy, reflexology, Ayurveda, or other holistic wellness modalities.
  • Familiarity with general wellness practices such as yoga and meditation.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking, standing, and well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours per day, with varying durations depending on tasks.
  • Ability to reach different areas of the resort in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work in limited spaces, bend, stoop, squat, and stretch for cleaning tasks.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally push/pull carts or equipment weighing up to 250 lbs.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.
  • Continuous communication with guests, supervisors, and subordinates (talking and hearing).
  • Frequent near vision and depth perception for tasks and equipment operation.
  • Manual dexterity to use and operate necessary equipment.

Pay

The base hourly wage for this part-time Esthetician role is $16.90 per hour, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, gratuities, or piece rates.
