About the role
The Spa Esthetician provides exceptional skin care and related spa treatments with professionalism, a customized approach, and over-the-top hospitality to spa guests. As an active business partner, you’ll support the company’s goals, objectives, vision, mission, and values.
Responsibilities
- Provide spa services to guests in a timely, courteous, and efficient manner, including skin care, hair removal, nail services (if licensed), body treatments, foot soaks/treatments, etc.
- Maintain an agreed-upon retail sales-to-service ratio with the spa’s exceptional products, gifts, and accessories.
- Maintain an agreed-upon minimum upsell percentage.
- Attend pre- and post-shift meetings.
- Participate fully in maintaining backbar expenses.
- Complete all necessary record-keeping tasks related to spa operations.
- Participate in all advanced training.
- Escort guests to and from treatment rooms gracefully, attending to immediate needs throughout their visit.
- Assist with guest inquiries, coordinate service requests, and maintain impeccable spa cleanliness.
- Ensure guest comfort and safety during treatments.
- Maintain work areas with necessary supplies, sanitation, and disinfection procedures, ensuring rooms are immaculate at all times.
- Perform monthly and quarterly deep-cleaning responsibilities.
- Assist with cleanliness of all spa areas, including locker rooms.
- Support fellow associates with daily operations to foster teamwork and contribute to the spa’s success.
- Assist with additional functions as requested by the Spa Manager, Director of Rooms, or General Manager, including spa, lounges, indoor/outdoor areas, retail, and pool areas.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- 2+ years of experience as an Esthetician in a stand-alone or hotel spa environment (or equivalent experience; less may be acceptable with advanced training).
- California State Esthetician License from the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA).
Qualifications
- Luxury spa experience strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Advanced training in holistic and/or clinical skin care, aromatherapy, and body treatments.
- Knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, botanical ingredients, thalassotherapy, reflexology, Ayurveda, or other holistic wellness modalities.
- Knowledge of general wellness practices such as yoga and meditation.
Physical Requirements
- Position requires walking and giving direction for most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours.
- Must be able to reach different outlets and resort departments in a timely manner.
- Must be able to work in limited spaces, bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and push/pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously when communicating with guests, supervisors, and subordinates.
- Vision (near vision and depth perception) is required continuously for most functions.
- Manual dexterity is required to use and operate necessary equipment.
Pay
The pay scale for this part-time Esthetician position is $16.90 per hour (base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, gratuities, etc.).
