ESSA - Special Programs Instructional Assistant / Instructional Assistant / Crossing Guard, 2026-27 - Scott

All positions require applicants to be at least 18 years of age. Must have the ability to perform job duties in all types of weather. Applicants must be able to follow written and oral directions and be able to work independently as required.

About the Role

• Special Programs Instructional Assistant (SPIA): To improve student achievement by assisting a licensed teacher in the planning and implementation of an educational program, including individualized education programs (IEPs). Assigned educational programs may include both general and special education settings.
• Instructional Assistant (IA): To improve student achievement by assisting a licensed teacher in the planning and implementation of an educational program for students to perform instructional activities in support of the prescribed lesson plan; assisting in providing a safe, healthy environment for students; and performing a variety of general clerical duties.
• Crossing Guard: Responsible for ensuring the safe crossing of students and pedestrians at designated school crossings.

Schedule

• Special Programs Instructional Assistant (SPIA): 188 days per school calendar year, 3 hours per shift.
• Instructional Assistant (IA): 188 days per school calendar year, 2 hours per shift.
• Crossing Guard: 186 days per school calendar year, up to 1 hour per day (15 minutes to 1 hour).

Start Date: September 3, 2026 (SPIA & IA) / September 8, 2026 (Crossing Guard) – June 16, 2027.

Pay

• Special Programs Instructional Assistant (SPIA): $24.03 - $30.65 per hour.
• Instructional Assistant (IA): $20.72 - $26.56 per hour.
• Crossing Guard: $20.40 per hour.

Requirements

• ESSA Documentation Required for Instructional Assistant roles: All paraprofessionals working in a Title I funded school must meet proficiency in reading, writing, and math as outlined by the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
