Esports Instructor
Job Summary
The Esports Gaming CTE Instructor will prepare high school students for careers within the rapidly growing video game and Esports industries by providing instruction in game design concepts, Esports competition, digital collaboration, project management, game analysis, and career readiness. Instruction emphasizes teamwork, communication, creativity, critical thinking, ethical digital citizenship, and industry-standard technologies while exposing students to careers in game development, software programming, multimedia production, game testing, content creation, event management, and esports operations. Students will engage in project-based learning, collaborative game development, competitive Esports activities, and exploration of careers within the Information and Communication Technologies Industry Sector and the Games and Simulation pathway.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Appropriate CTE or Designated Subjects teaching credential or eligibility for appropriate credential.
- Candidates without a credential must have 3 years’ experience within the field. CalAPS will assist individuals in obtaining the preliminary credential provided the candidate can prove applicable proof of experience. Credential cost will be reimbursed by CalAPS.
- Three (3) years of work experience in the technical skills, trade, or vocations to be taught are required. One (1) of the three (3) years of the required experience must be within the last five (5) years, or two (2) years within the last ten (10) years.
