About the role
The Esports Coach will lead an esports program at Independence Community College, overseeing all aspects including recruiting, scheduling, coaching, and organizing opportunities for students.
Responsibilities
- Recruit qualified students for the esports program
- Schedule and coach intercollegiate matches and tournaments
- Schedule practice preparation and address program barriers
- Organize and provide opportunities for students on the competitive, business, and relationship sides
- Develop a vision for a collegiate esports program and commit to the college's mission and vision
Requirements
- An Associate’s degree in any field
- At least two years of experience in a competitive esports environment involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements
- General knowledge of League of Legends, Overwatch, Call of Duty, or other competitive titles
- Self-motivated, with the ability to resolve issues independently
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of equipment used in esports and streaming
- Ability to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, and administrators
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing responsibilities
- Positive and equitable team environment
- Exceptional organizational and scheduling skills
- Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Significant travel for recruiting and tournament support
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: Associate’s degree in any field required, at least two years of competitive esports experience, general knowledge of competitive titles, self-motivation, relationship-building skills, effective communication, knowledge of esports equipment, ability to work with diverse communities, ability to manage responsibilities, positive team environment, exceptional organization and scheduling skills, flexible schedule, significant travel, and passing a background check

Benefits
- Salary: $29,000 annually plus on-campus housing and meals
- Housing Supervisor duties: $15.00 per hour (up to 20 hours per week)
