About the role
Teaches basic skills in language, writing, reading, mathematics, study skills, and test taking strategy in accordance with ASPIRE benchmarks for mastery of subjects. Provides leadership, supervision, and control of classroom activities.
Responsibilities
- Learns training and implementation of the ASPIRE Ohio Options for Adults Curriculum
- Uses the ASPIRE Assessment Policy as a guideline for monitoring student performance (initial and progress assessments, and measurable skill gains)
- Uses the ASPIRE Data System to document attendance and maintain student records
- Creates and maintains lesson plans for each class
- Creates and maintains an individualized learning plan for each student
- Maintains attendance, records, scores, and evaluates educational performance of participants
- Identifies and refers participants for supportive services to enhance student success
- Attends training sessions and/or attends regional/state conferences for professional development
- Represents the Ohio Options for Adults, ASPIRE program at Cuyahoga Community College and community events
- Mentors and supports the participants of the ASPIRE program
- Instructs via distance learning methods when needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in teaching or classroom facilitation
- Experience working with adult learners
- Experience with curriculum development and classroom management
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Customer service focus, with strong problem solving and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact with individuals from diverse and multi-ethnic backgrounds

Benefits
Part-time non-bargaining unit position, Grade 10, with a minimum hiring rate of: $25.00/hour. Requires residency in the state of Ohio and being within commuting distance of the work location/campus.
Pay
$25.00/hour
Schedule
Hours will depend on program needs, some classes start at 10 am, some start at 1pm while others start at 6pm
