ESOL Instructor Refugee Services (FT $23.00/Hour)

About the role

Catholic Charities of Onondaga County seeks an ESOL Instructor to teach adults who speak English as a second language. The position involves creating lesson plans, assessing students, networking with external service providers, supervising staff and volunteers, recruiting and evaluating participants, and maintaining accountability.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement lesson plans for adult ESOL students
• Assess students' English language proficiency using standardized tools and adjust accordingly
• Network within Catholic Charities and with external service providers to offer referrals that meet participant needs and promote program objectives
• Timely record-keeping to meet funding source guidelines
• Supervise and provide guidelines to staff and volunteers
• Recruit and evaluate program participants
• Maintain accountability for all participants, staff, and volunteers
• Serve as a professional role model
• Collaborate effectively with other project staff
• Maintain compliance with funding source guidelines and Catholic Charities policies and procedures

Requirements

• TESOL degree, and/or TESOL certification from a state licensing agency
• Minimum of two years of experience in TESOL instruction in a classroom setting with a structured curriculum

Qualifications

• Valid N.Y.S. Driver's License
• NYS driver's license check
• State Central Register Clearance
