KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS Job Description Job Title: ESOL Bilingual Instructional Paraprofessional Job Title Code: 00192 Salary Grade: Z02S-Z06S starting at $17.59 Reports To: Language Services and School Administrator FLSA Status: Non Exempt Date Prepared: Revised August 2026 Position Summary Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student learning through the implementation of instructional activities and targeted language supports. Provide interpretation and translation services to facilitate communication and engagement among students, families, school staff, and district personnel. What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities) Collaborate with teachers to implement activities that support students' instructional and social-emotional needs.Assist teachers with team teaching, team planning, and daily and emergency classroom routines.Monitor student behavior and reinforce established expectations to promote a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.Lead small-group instruction under the direction of a supervising teacher.Facilitate communication by providing interpretation and translation services for KCPS stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and staff, as needed.Assist with the identification, screening, and assessment of English Learners.Participate in conferences, parent meetings, team meetings, professional development, and other assigned meetings.Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Minimum Qualifications) Sixty (60) college hours or Para Pro Exam CertificationBilingual/Multilingual In Order to #LevelUp in This Role, You'll Need: (Preferred Qualifications) Three (3) years experience working with students and parents/guardiansCoursework in education or a related field. Physical Demands This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds. The job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
