About the role
The ESL Tutor supports students learning English, with a preference for bilingual Spanish speakers.
Responsibilities
- Instruct students from bi-lingual homes on basic academic skills and class assignments.
- Work under the supervision of the Director of Bi-lingual Education and in coordination with the classroom teacher.
Requirements
- High school graduation.
- Two years (48 semester hours) full-time education at an institution of higher education; or an associate's degree; or pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in a second language and knowledge of a second culture.
- Ability to work well with students, teachers, and administrators.
- Patience and empathy when working with children.
- Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, English pronunciation, reading comprehension, and pronunciation.
Pay
$17.24 per hour (2026-27 Support Salary Table)
Schedule
5.0 hours per day, 166 days per year
