Responsibilities
- Provide integrated civics and ESL instruction to students at a high beginner to intermediate English level through a student-centered teaching approach
- Plan and implement lesson plans that are aligned with the program curriculum and that incorporate the provided educational materials, including the adopted textbook and USCIS Citizenship study materials
- Deliver citizenship content that incorporates the required reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills for the citizenship test, as well as English vocabulary and grammar skill development
- Maintain and submit records of attendance
- Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned within available time.
- Participate in relevant professional development activities, as available
Qualifications
- Experience teaching ESL and US citizenship to adult learners preferred
- MA in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, or CELTA strongly preferred
- Experience in designing and delivering student-centered instruction
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds
- Ability to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data
Pay
$50.00 per hour
Schedule
Saturdays, 8:30am – 12:30 pm
