ESL Instructor

Duties

• Prepare for in-person class, ensure area is ready for students.
• Teach basic reading, writing, and conversation skills (depending on class level).
• Maintain student attendance records and follow up on absences.
• Prepare classwork, homework, and tests for each class.
• Administer final examinations and compile required documents for the end of the year program.

Requirements

• Minimum two years of college education; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Prior experience teaching adults.
• Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills; Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Attendance and punctuality during program is mandatory.
• Understand and support The Salvation Army’s mission as a church and a social services organization.
• Patient, compassionate, and understanding demeanor.
• Proficient in computer skills.
