ESIT Speech Language Pathologist

Join our Early Support for Infants & Toddlers (ESIT) team as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) and help develop and scale a best-in-class Early Intervention program for children ages 0-3. This role provides critical therapeutic support for children with identified delays through the ESIT program, working closely with caregivers to create child-focused treatment plans. Access to protected healthcare information (PHI) or confidential identifiable information (CII) is required to perform job duties.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, assesses, and provides speech therapy to children ages 0-3
• Collaborates with the Early Intervention team, Family Resources Coordinators (FRCs), and Akin program staff on interdisciplinary IFSPs, goal setting, and case review
• Maintains documentation of case records and ensures compliance with Part C and other policies
• Provides direct, indirect, or consultative services to children with communication disorders
• Communicates with insurance providers, school districts, and other outside resources as needed
• Engages and empowers parents in all individual and group sessions, providing training and support to meet children’s needs
• Participates in the development of individualized goals for child and family
• Provides coaching and consultation for staff, parents, and care providers
• Demonstrates a caring, nonjudgmental, equity-minded approach to working with every family
• Prepares reports and progress notes as required
• Attends team meetings relating to each child’s programs and progress
• Schedules minimum therapy hours as established by therapy department policy
• Attends regular staff and department meetings, reflective supervision meetings, and monthly all-staff meetings
• Continues professional development through conferences, coursework, literature review, and participation in professional associations
• Attends in-service programs and shares information from professional meetings with the team
• Develops alternate/augmentative communication systems as needed
• Makes and/or orders equipment, assessment, or therapy materials
• Complies with all Akin policies and procedures, including identification and reporting of child abuse
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, licensed by Washington State
• Experience working with children ages 0-3
• Experience interacting with diverse populations
• Pass a portable background check through Department of Early Learning
• Pass a tuberculosis (TB) test or have a negative test within 12 months prior to hire
• Current certification in Pediatric/Adult CPR, first aid, AED, HIV, and bloodborne pathogens
• Experience and demonstrated ability to work within a diverse cultural setting and provide culturally dynamic, equitable, and supportive services
• Valid driver’s license with no more than three violations within the past three years

• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems (e.g., Credible)
• Demonstrated ability to lead or support teams with diverse identities and backgrounds, including implementing inclusive practices
• Working knowledge of principles of accessibility, inclusion, and belonging

Pay

The target starting pay for this position is $95,000 - $120,000 per year, typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take an applicant’s pay history into account. The range allows for growth during tenure in the position.

Schedule

• Hybrid work arrangements may be available but require daily presence in the office for some responsibilities. Hybrid arrangements may be adjusted or rescinded based on business needs.
