About the role
We are seeking an experienced ESG Reporting & Assurance Specialist to build EdgeConneX's environmental and sustainability certification and reporting programs globally. In this role, you will set the strategy and roadmap for the function, serve as the organization's subject matter authority on ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 50001 (energy management), own the environmental and sustainability audit and assurance relationship, and drive readiness for emerging sustainability disclosure frameworks, including future Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) reporting. You will be accountable to leadership for the performance of the function and report to the Senior Manager of Environmental Sustainability & Compliance.
Responsibilities
- Set the strategy and roadmap for the organization's environmental and sustainability certification and reporting programs, including ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and sustainability/ESG disclosure.
- Serve as the organization's subject matter authority on ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and sustainability/ESG reporting and assurance frameworks.
- Own the environmental and sustainability audit relationship, internal and external, including scheduling, resourcing, and final sign-off on certification, surveillance, and assurance remediation plans, scoped to environmental and sustainability certifications, assurance, and disclosures.
- Lead ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certification, maintenance, and continual-improvement cycles across the global portfolio.
- Build and own organizational readiness for CSRD reporting and other emerging sustainability disclosure frameworks, including climate-related financial disclosures.
- Own the integrity, traceability, and audit-readiness of sustainability and ESG data and its source systems.
- Own sustainability reporting and external assurance engagements, including sustainability-linked and ESG data assurance, and ensure reporting meets leadership standards.
- Partner with department heads and executive stakeholders to align environmental and sustainability priorities with business objectives.
- Review and maintain Environmental Management System (EMS) and Energy Management System (EnMS) documentation, procedures, and document control at a program level.
- Approve and ensure delivery of environmental and sustainability training across the organization.
- Report on certification status, sustainability performance, disclosure readiness, and remediation efforts to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Set priorities for continuous improvement of environmental and sustainability management systems, reporting processes, and tooling, and measure the team against them.
- Oversee environmental and sustainability risk assessments and provide guidance on risk mitigation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in environmental management, sustainability, or ESG.
- Professional certifications such as ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, ISO 50001 Lead Auditor, or similar are preferred.
- Strong understanding of environmental and energy management standards and sustainability/ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 50001, GHG Protocol, CSRD/ESRS), with experience setting program strategy preferred.
- High-level familiarity with adjacent management-system standards (e.g., ISO 45001).
- Experience designing and overseeing certification, audit, and assurance programs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound business judgment on risk and materiality trade-offs.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, including experience managing a team and reporting to senior leadership.
Skills
- Program-level management-system documentation and lifecycle management.
- Vendor, auditor, and verification-body program ownership.
- Implementing and/or administering sustainability/ESG reporting or EHS platforms (e.g., Workiva or similar).
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with a proactive, ownership-driven approach to identifying and managing risk.
Preferred Experience
- Formal project or program management certification.
- Experience in a regulated or infrastructure-intensive industry (e.g., data center, energy, technology).
Travel
National and international travel will be required, up to 25%.
Pay
The pay range for this role is 95,000 - 105,000 USD per year (HQ).
