Job Responsibilities

The Workforce Consultant supports the SNAP and TANF programs by advocating and promoting employment as a means of stabilizing the lives of referred participants in designated areas.

Assesses participants' job readiness and coaches on job search, resume writing, interview preparation, and job retention techniques in order to maximize successful employment achievement.

Directs and guides participants from job search through employment by coaching on employment preparedness and referring to developed opportunities.

Counsels participants on employment readiness in partnership with the assigned Family Success Coach.

Promotes the use of work experience, on-the-job training, and community service with a variety of local organizations.

Establishes collaborative relationships to develop employment and training opportunities for DSS clients.

Serves as a well-informed and participatory resource by staying knowledgeable about local resources, services, labor market information, training opportunities, and job fairs or hiring events.

Facilitates job fairs and hiring events and participates in similar events as requested by partner agencies.

Strongly engages in the growth and collaborative efforts of the local business services team(s) and the SC Works system.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of professional experience in social services programs, correctional, education, business administration, general administrative management, or relevant program experience.
  • A Master's Degree and one (1) year of professional experience in social services programs, correctional, education, business administration, general administrative management, or relevant program experience.
