About the role
Perform installations, service, and preventative maintenance of intrusion, fire, CCTV, and access control security systems for commercial customers.
Responsibilities
- Install, dismantle, and reconstruct security equipment as specified on work orders
- Conduct scheduled and routine preventative maintenance: inspect, adjust, clean, and calibrate systems under contract
- Contact customers to verify installation schedules
- Prepare estimates following supervisor instructions
- Follow schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures
- Test system operation to ensure proper signal transmission to the receiving center
- Read building, electrical, and sprinkler blueprints
- Coordinate installations with required contacts and manage necessary records
- Collaborate with other installers on large commercial projects
- Work safely to avoid injuries, property damage, and material loss; clean up installation debris
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Safe operation of a fleet vehicle at all times
- Knowledge of surveillance and security systems, basic electronics, wiring, and local/national codes
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record in good standing
- Maintain a reliable vehicle with appropriate liability insurance as required by company policy
- Subject to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing
Qualifications
- Six to twelve months of apprenticeship/classroom study OR 2 to 4 years of electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude or a combination
- Previous knowledge and training in the electronic security industry preferred
- Current state licensing, if required
- High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move 50 or more pounds
- Ability to sit and drive a vehicle
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and reach freely
- Vision correctable to 20/20
