ES&H Representative (Field Supervision)

Job Summary

In this role, you will provide technical oversight of the project’s ES&H compliance activities through inspection of project field execution activities. You will assist project and construction management in implementing and complying with project safety requirements and in addressing ES&H issues as they arise during project execution.

Major Responsibilities

  • Covers coordination of a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines to facilitate implementation of Bechtel's ES&H program and ES&H Management System.
  • Aids compliance with Bechtel's ES&H standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments.
  • Delivers toolbox talks and participates in site meetings with project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of safety requirements.
  • Aids in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities.
  • Maintains ES&H databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions.
  • Performs statistical analysis of ES&H data to identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement and makes recommendations accordingly.
  • Identifies and coordinates unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ES&H personnel.
  • Leads teams in conducting risk assessment, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H issues.
  • Prepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retention.
  • Coordinates incident notifications, leads investigations, and prepares incident investigation reports.
  • Recommends and implements improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potential.
  • Participates in and may lead employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs.
  • Coordinates ES&H recognition programs.
  • Researches moderately complex issues and provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s or Master's degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental, safety, health or science-related discipline and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Required Knowledge And Skills:
    • Knowledge of OSHA 1926 and 1910 required.
    • Understanding of Bechtel's ESH Core Processes (preferred).
    • Can perform root cause analysis as needed for incident investigations.
    • Conducts Project Contractor Orientation.
    • Led and implemented Project ESH Audits, monitoring completion of specified corrective actions.
    • Coaches Contractor Project and Safety Team on the Bechtel Processes and expectations.
    • Knowledge of safety programs/engineering systems, principles, and methodologies.
    • Knowledge of national safety laws/regulations and regulatory agencies’ regulatory requirements and responsibilities, industry standards/current practices for ES&H, and best management practices for minimizing potential ES&H risks during project execution.
    • Experience in ES&H assessments/inspection during construction.
    • Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of ES&H subcontractors or consultants.
