About the Role

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated large-scale projects. Oversees single or multiple projects to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and profitability. Responsibilities include managing Field Engineers and Technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and resource allotment.
  • Confers with Service Center Manager or Region Director to outline work plan and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project and arranges for assignment of project personnel.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Reviews status reports and other documentation prepared by project personnel, clients, and contractors; modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepares and presents project reports for management, clients, or others.
  • Gathers and develops back-up material for change order requests.
  • Provides technical advice and resolves problems with project personnel.
  • Coordinates project activities with clients and other contractors as required.
  • Directly supervises Field Engineers and Technicians during project assignments.
  • Develops large-scale project management processes and routines for company-wide use.
  • Mentors junior personnel and teaches good project management practices.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code and industry standards such as OSHA and NFPA.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Latista, Google Docs, and other project management software.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night shifts as required.
  • Ability to work in a service center or field environment, including extensive computer and telephone use.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, contractors, field engineers, peers, and management.
  • Mature judgment; responsible for assigned projects and supervising, organizing, and directing the work of others.
  • High degree of communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
  • Available for out-of-town and international travel of up to several months.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear; frequently required to sit and work at a computer.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift and/or move test equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
