About the role

Acumatica is looking for a Business Analyst to join the Vertrax business unit. Vertrax was built to empower midstream and downstream fuel suppliers with cutting-edge ERP and logistics solutions designed to address the complexities of the energy industry. Our mission is to simplify the demands of fuel operations, drive efficiency, and give businesses a genuine competitive edge.

Vertrax is a unified platform that brings together two solutions: Vertrax Energy ERP, a commercial-grade, cloud-native back-office system delivering real-time insights and automating the order-to-cash workflow, and SmartDrops, which handles dispatch and logistics, including optimized route scheduling, driver performance tracking, and delivery analytics. Together, they support fuel, propane, and lubricant operations, replacing inefficient legacy systems with a single modern, scalable solution.

The role focuses on distribution and supply chain functionality spanning sales, purchasing, warehousing, inventory, pricing, freight, tax, and connections to operational systems. The Business Analyst serves as the bridge among customers, product stakeholders, developers, and quality teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business scenarios, customer pain points, and product requirements through discovery with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Design new features and enhancements; create functional specifications, current- and future-state workflows, process flows, mockups or wireframes, and defined acceptance criteria.
  • Evaluate the impact and backward compatibility of proposed product changes, negotiate requirements with stakeholders, and decompose approved changes into clear technical user stories and development tasks.
  • Work closely with developers to coordinate implementation details, resolve requirement questions, and manage necessary changes to the original scope.
  • Analyze and support Acumatica distribution workflows across Sales, Purchasing, Warehousing, Inventory Management, pricing, freight, tax, and related financial processes.
  • Document data flows and integration requirements between Acumatica and external dispatch, delivery, inventory, tank monitoring, CRM, and other industry systems; create mapping or API specifications when applicable.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA and automated testing engineers, technical writers, support, implementation teams, and external partners to deliver complete, testable, and high-quality functionality.
  • Develop test plans and scenarios covering standard use, data migration, invalid data, high-volume conditions, and integrations; perform acceptance testing and verify corrected defects.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing, release and deployment readiness, customer demonstrations, user training, and post-go-live troubleshooting.
  • Maintain product, process, and support documentation; process support requests, assist with root-cause analysis, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Analysis, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in business or system analysis, ERP functional consulting, or product analysis, including development of functional specifications and workflow diagrams.
  • 3+ years of experience in one or more distribution domains: Supply Chain, Sales, Purchasing, Warehousing, Inventory Management, or E-commerce.
  • Experience working directly with both developers and business users, including manual acceptance testing and creation of test scenarios.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure large amounts of information and decompose complex objects, systems, and processes.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to build constructive relationships and share information across business and technical teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adhere to designated priorities, and focus on measurable results in a fast-paced, cross-functional, remote environment.
  • Quality-focused mindset, curiosity, and the ability to model user behavior, identify application flaws, and learn new business and technical concepts quickly.
  • Availability to work primarily in the Eastern Time, with occasional flexibility based on project needs.
