About the role

The Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant will assist physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Responsibilities include appointment scheduling, care and chart management, providing information to patients, conveying a positive image of the clinic, collecting and processing routine testing, returning results to doctors, obtaining and processing doctor's orders, and data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.
  • Schedules appointments and manages patient charts.
  • Provides information to patients to help them utilize and benefit from clinic services.
  • Counsels and educates patients about their health and treatment options.
  • Collects, processes routine testing, and returns results to doctors.
  • Obtains and processes doctor’s orders and performs data entry.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, doctors, and other medical staff via phone and in person.
  • Works under pressure to meet deadlines and maintain quality care.
  • Performs CLIA-waived moderate testing.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school program or higher.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • CMA course preferred but not required.
  • Phlebotomy course and experience.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and healthcare regulations.
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
