ER Registered Nurse

About the role
The purpose of this PRN night-shift (7pm-7am) position is to perform the primary functions of a nurse in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating patient care in the Emergency Room of a 16-bed small-format hospital (8 ER, 8 inpatient). Night and weekend shift differentials, plus paid referrals, are offered.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prioritize, and provide proficient, age-specific, and developmentally/specialty-appropriate nursing care by applying advanced clinical knowledge to ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Complete accurate, concise, and legible documentation on medical records.
- Observe and record signs, symptoms, and behaviors, including the physiological status of patients; propose revisions to interventions and desired outcomes.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
- Follow physician’s orders in the delivery of nursing care.
- Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures, COLA, and CLIA regulations.
- Adhere to infection control, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
- Participate in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
- Assemble equipment and supplies for diagnostic or treatment procedures; perform or assist with procedures.
- Provide care in accordance with legal, hospital, departmental policies, and established nursing standards as defined by the State Board of Nursing.
- Complete assigned Quality Assessment activities and document results.
- Attend staff meetings and other required company-sponsored or mandated meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Current, unrestricted state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum 2+ years full-time RN experience in the ER or comparable setting.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross (TNCC preferred).
- Fluency in English, both written and oral.
Pennsylvania candidates: Act 33 (Child Abuse History Clearance) and Act 73 (FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance) must be completed within the last 5 years or obtained prior to start date.
