ER/Nursing Veterinary Technician

About the role

We are seeking a collaborative and driven Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team at MedVet. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling critical situations with ease and providing comprehensive care to our patients.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Maintain a safe and sterile environment for all patients and staff
• Document all patient interactions and treatments accurately and timely

Requirements

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Our team works flexible schedules to accommodate the needs of our patients and clients. Shifts may vary depending on the needs of the practice.

Pay

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Salary details are available upon request.
