ER/Nursing Veterinary Technician
About the role
We are seeking a collaborative and driven Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team at MedVet. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling critical situations with ease and providing comprehensive care to our patients.
Responsibilities
- Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
- Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment
- Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
- Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
- Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
- Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing
- Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
- Maintain a safe and sterile environment for all patients and staff
- Document all patient interactions and treatments accurately and timely
Requirements
- State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
- Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
- Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
- Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
