ER Manager RN/ Emergency Mgmt Coordinator

About the role

The Manager oversees daily clinical operations of the Emergency Room. They implement process improvement initiatives, enhance patient care and throughput. They provide for the professional development and evaluation of staff and serve as a patient advocate.

Responsibilities

• Makes decisions and performs tasks independently
• Monitors the provision of Emergency & Trauma patient care services from triage, stabilization, appropriate interventions, through discharge/transfer/admission
• Investigates incidents and patient complaints, performing service recovery when possible
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements
• Develops and implements appropriate policies and procedures
• Provides initial orientation and continuing education opportunities for all department staff
• Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement processes for the department
• Maintains quality control programs, as appropriate
• Assists in the budget planning process by making recommendations for resources, including personnel, equipment and space as appropriate
• Operates, maintains, and tests Emergency Operations Center (EOC) equipment and systems
• Conducts disaster drills in accordance with State and Federal requirements
• Attends required meetings for HPP and ASPR grant funding requirements
• Designs, develops, coordinates and implements hospital-wide and site specific training for the HMH Emergency Management Plan

Requirements

• Graduate of a school of professional nursing
• Three years of nursing experience preferred
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas, or immediately eligible
• Basic Life Support certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support required prior to working first shift in Emergency Department
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (or ENPC) certifications required within 6 months of employment
• TNCC required within 18 months of employment
