ER Department Head Veterinarian

Responsibilities

• Fostering a culture that supports the development of engaged and empowered caregivers.
• Working collaboratively with the Medical Director to oversee Emergency Services within the hospital.
• Serving as a key liaison between the Emergency and Specialty teams to ensure outstanding patient care and continuity.
• Supporting the Medical Director in the operational and strategic management of the ER department.
• Actively participating in ER doctor recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development.
• Creating and maintaining the ER doctor schedule.
• Helping provide an exceptional referral partner experience and assisting with client concern resolution.
• Driving clinical excellence and supporting a positive, collaborative hospital culture.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience as an Emergency Veterinarian.
• Experience in leadership roles within an emergency or specialty veterinary setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop colleagues.

Desired Qualifications:

• Board certification in Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Medicine.
• Experience with ER doctor recruitment and onboarding processes.
• Knowledge of hospital scheduling systems and software.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
