Job Summary

As a member of the Emergency Services team, the Clinical Care Coordinator (CCC) will serve as an expert resource and consultant to Emergency Services staff for purposes of maintaining and improving staff competency, self-sufficiency, and accountability. Working collaboratively with the Emergency Services Leader, medical staff and multidisciplinary teams, the CCC will strive to improve departmental practice and ensure clinical objectives are met. In addition, the CCC will be assigned certain administrative duties and serve in a supervisory capacity when performing as a CCC. The CCC will serve as a role model providing leadership and support to the Emergency Services team consistent with the core values of the hospital. When necessary, the CCC will be active in providing nursing care to patients of all ages.

Job Specifications

  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • A graduate from an associate degree, a baccalaureate school of nursing, or a diploma school of nursing with a license in the State of Illinois.
    • Currently licensed RN in the state of Illinois by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.
    • Three to five years of clinical experience desired.
  • JOB KNOWLEDGE:
    • Must have knowledge of the following:
    • Clinical operations and procedures performed in the Emergency Services environment;
    • Regulatory agency standards and application to the Emergency Services environment (i.e., CDC and OSHA regulations, TJC standards, etc.);
    • Emergency Medical Services System Plan;
    • Emergency Services and hospital policies, procedures, and practices;
    • Medical and technical equipment used;
    • working knowledge of medical / legal rules and regulations, i.e., child abuse reporting, domestic violence reporting, elder abuse reporting, EMTALA, etc.
  • ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS:
    • Must have the ability to express thoughts in clear and concise terms, both verbal and written.
    • Must have the ability to organize, direct and train personnel.
    • Must have the ability to set priorities in all situations.
    • Must have the ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information both verbally and in writing.
    • Must have the ability to operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Must have the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
    • Must have the ability to meet public and patients effectively.
    • Must be interested in self-motivation and self-improvement.
    • Must be interested in continuing education of personnel.
    • Must be interested in the promotion of the Emergency Services Department.
    • Must be able to use tact, courtesy, and diplomacy when dealing with employees, supervisors, administrators, physicians, patients and the public.
    • Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
