Equity Research Vice President - Metals & Mining

About the role

The Vice President level Metals & Mining (M&M) Equity Research analyst will initiate coverage on 20+ junior gold, silver and base metals companies and subsequently be the lead analyst on these names. The analyst will work closely with our top-ranked lead M&M analysts and be an important contributor to our global coverage of the sector.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain financial models and industry databases
• Publish research reports that will be distributed to internal/external clients
• Effectively communicate recommendations to sales, trading and clients

Requirements

• Strong academic background, with technical training and knowledge (ideally but not necessarily a background as a geologist or mining engineer)
• 6+ years of related financial services experience, preferably in sell-side/buy-side equity research or investment banking
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to work in a time-sensitive environment
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment is a critical factor in this role
• Resourcefulness, entrepreneurial spirit and proven leadership qualities

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong interest in Metals & Mining with technical knowledge and background in the industry
• Solid experience in business modeling and financial statement analysis
• Strong communication skills and a team player
