About the role
The Equity Research Associate will support a Senior Biotech Research Analyst focusing on emerging SMID-cap firms in healthcare, particularly brain disorders and rare indications. This role involves research, client support, data collection, and statistical studies on industries and individual companies and their securities. Through training and on-the-job experience, the Research Associate will develop skills to research and analyze investment securities and prepare investment recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct investment research by evaluating the pipeline potential of publicly-trading biotech companies.
- Search, collect, consolidate, and interpret company and industry data.
- Develop and maintain financial models, market monitoring systems, and databases.
- Assist in the preparation of research reports, notes, and briefs.
- Communicate and respond to internal and external requests.
- Meet with management teams of issuers, conduct onsite visits, and attend industry conferences.
- Provide administrative support as required.
- Attain required securities licenses.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in physical or life sciences; prior research experience in CNS-related areas and/or advanced scientific degree (e.g., Ph.D. in basic or translational sciences) is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, AI, Internet search tools, and software applications.
About the Team
The candidate will report to a Senior Biotech Research Analyst with a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from The University of Illinois at Chicago and several years of postdoctoral research at leading institutions, including Northwestern University (14 peer-reviewed publications/industry articles and 1 patent). The Senior Analyst has seven years of Biotech Equity Research experience covering a broad range of indications, therapeutic modalities, and firm sizes, focusing on neurology, neurodegeneration, neuromuscular, and rare indications for 15 companies at Roth.
Pay
$70,000 base salary plus an annual discretionary bonus.
