We’re a global investment manager. We help institutions, intermediaries and individuals around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future. With around 6,000 people on six continents, we’ve been operating for over 200 years while continuously adapting to societal and technological changes. Our commitment remains steadfast: helping our clients—and society—prosper.

About the role

The US Small and Mid Cap Team is comprised of five senior investment analysts managing approximately $7.5 billion (with capacity to exceed $15 billion) across Small, SMID, and Mid Cap strategies. The team’s investment philosophy prioritizes quality, focusing on inflecting fundamentals and rising returns, while maintaining valuation discipline to assess downside risk. Analysts make recommendations with imperfect information, allocating investments across three “alpha sources”: mispriced growth, steady eddies, and turnarounds.

As an integral part of the team, you will cover the Industrials sector within the Small and Small/Mid Cap portfolios, participating in all stages of the investment process—from sourcing opportunities to analyzing investments and assisting the portfolio manager in capital allocation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct bottom-up fundamental stock selection driven by proprietary research.
  • Work closely with the Portfolio Manager and Head of Research to identify the best opportunities to outperform the Industrials sector, assessed relative to the Industrials universe across Russell Small, SMID, and Mid Cap benchmarks.
  • Present stock recommendations and investment packs to the Portfolio Manager and Head of Research, actively discussing weightings for each name within the Industrials sector.
  • Serve as the primary source of idea generation for team portfolios.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years in the financial industry, with at least 5 years covering Industrials.
  • A thorough grounding in fundamental stock analysis, financial modeling, and the Small and Mid-Cap Industrial sector.
  • Detailed knowledge of stocks within Industrial sectors, including a perspective on factors driving outperformance across different market and economic cycles.

Skills

  • Strong team player, comfortable in an environment where ideas are debated and challenged.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and advocacy skills to present compelling cases for or against stock inclusion in portfolios.

Pay

Schroders offers a base salary in the range of $200,000 to $240,000 for this position. The range reflects the Company’s good faith belief at the time of posting and may vary based on geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.

Location

This role is based in Schroders’ New York office, with the flexibility to work remotely as needed.
