EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

Description Of Duties/Essential Functions

• Install and maintain roadway markings, including restriping lane lines, applying thermoplastic/paint markings, and placing raised pavement markers (RPMs).
• Operate specialized heavy equipment such as striping trucks.
• Perform traffic control duties, including flagging and teamwork.
• Set up and remove Traffic Control devices (cones, barricades, signage, etc.) for special events or emergencies.
• Investigate and respond to citizen traffic concerns and service requests.
• Utilize digital systems to manage work orders, such as computer systems and Samsung tablets.
• Communicate with team members, supervisors, and other city departments to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Work after regular hours, on weekends, or during emergencies as required, while adhering to all safety protocols and city regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution.
• Periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns.
• Assuming awkward positions for long periods of time.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, supplemented by specialized courses or training in the operation of the construction equipment.
• Six (6) months of experience performing manual and field work with power tools or equipment.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.

PREFERENCES

• Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided they possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for.

Qualifications Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification. The salary range is: Pay Grade 13
