Equipment Tech

Job Overview

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a qualified Equipment Technician. This role involves preparing, setting up, troubleshooting, and coordinating services and repairs for all clinical equipment in the Operating Room. The Equipment Technician also participates in the care, preparation, and maintenance of equipment and supplies in the OR, and assists in the set-up, opening, and breakdown of cases.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited high school
• BLS certification from AHA
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
• Ability to push carts/stretchers with weights more than 300 pounds
• Close vision, ability to see small objects/letters/numbers, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• One year experience with cleaning and distribution process of medical equipment preferred

Scheduling

Full-Time, Night Shift (37.5 hours per week)

Essential Functions

• Assists in the assembling of equipment and supplies in preparation for various operative procedures
• Cleans and returns equipment as necessary
• Assists in transporting patients to and from the OR
• Assists the nurse with personal needs of the patient such as changing gowns, blankets, cleansing, and positioning
• Affirms all equipment is properly checked by the Biomedical Department (i.e. sticker and appropriate date) and acts as a liaison with Biomed regarding product recalls
• Responsible for the retrieval and distribution of equipment ensuring adequate levels of patient care equipment to meet patients' needs
• Responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of patient care equipment
• Assumes responsibility for the tracking and documentation of aspects of management of patient care equipment
