Location: North Wilkesboro, NC, United States. Full-time position requiring fluency in English and the ability to travel 180-237 days per calendar year with lengthy deployments.

About the role

As an Equipment Service Technician at Samaritan's Purse, you will assist the Fleet Mechanic/Driver with the operation and continued maintenance of North American Disaster Relief's (NADR) fleet of vehicles and supporting equipment. You will travel to field sites, provide logistical support, assist with tool management, and ensure the safety and quality of work for staff and volunteers. Daily interactions with volunteers, homeowners, and staff are a key part of this role. The position is based in North Wilkesboro, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Travel to field sites to maintain and operate vehicles and equipment, provide logistical support, assist with tool management, and ensure safety and quality of work.
  • Ensure regular maintenance, repairs, and cleanliness of the department’s vehicle fleet and equipment.
  • Maintain equipment in response-ready mode and record all work performed on checklists and work orders.
  • Promote "quality work" as a Christian witness, including cleanliness and organization of tool and shop areas, warehouse, sheds, and garage areas, while maintaining safety consciousness.
  • Assist with Disaster Relief inventory and tracking of NADR assets.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of Samaritan's Purse beneficiaries (children, young adults, adults at risk).
  • Follow Samaritan's Purse policies and procedures as outlined in the Policy Manual.
  • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, donors, and volunteers.
  • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, beneficiaries, and the public.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must successfully acquire a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a valid DOT Medical Card (driving school provided if needed) within one year of hire.
  • High school diploma or GED, with one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot a wide variety of equipment, including trucks, trailers, small equipment, and power tools.
  • Ability to drive for extended periods and deploy with very short notice.
