Equipment Performance Improvement Manager - West Division

CRH’s Americas Materials, a division of CRH, is the leading vertically integrated supplier of aggregates, cement, asphalt, ready mixed concrete and paving and construction services in North America. Our operations span North America with 24,100 employees at close to 1,300 locations in 44 US States and 6 Canadian provinces. This is a hybrid position with time split between the office and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure an employee-driven safety culture is present and effective
  • Promote safe, effective, and efficient maintenance and repair practices
  • Facilitate regular communication and conference calls with Division and Business Unit Equipment Managers and Division Procurement Specialists
  • Work with Business Unit Managers to ensure that total cost of ownership (TCO) is competitive with or lower than industry standards
  • Support the CapEx process by assisting Business Units with multi-year planning, standardization and adherence to equipment category strategy, life cycle analysis and strategic disposal plans
  • Provide feedback on all performance initiative metrics
  • Maintain strong communication throughout the Division to identify areas to maximize equipment life at the lowest TCO while reducing downtime
  • Be a visible presence in the Division’s shops, field locations and jobs to help identify opportunities for continuous improvement; offer guidance in repair and maintenance processes along with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) usage
  • Assist with understanding and regular review of timely, accurate and useful equipment financials, dashboards, initiatives, metrics, and reports
  • Work with Business Units to optimize operating conditions at sites to improve overall equipment performance and capacity matching (e.g., improve haul roads, stockpile management)
  • Promote partnering with OEM dealers
  • Assist in developing fleet strategies to promote sharing of equipment across markets
  • Champion the development, improvement, implementation and use of shop and equipment excellence programs including compliance/risk, CMMS, tire programs, oil analysis, contamination control, telematics, 5S Program, parts/inventory management, winter maintenance plans, fuel management/storage, preventative maintenance, planning and scheduling, and outside repairs
  • Drive innovation through application of new technology
  • Work with divisional teams to ensure revenue and hourly rates are set properly so that the equipment, shop and delivery accounts break even
  • Train, mentor, and coach Division equipment leaders
  • Utilize performance management skills, communication, and knowledge to promote safety, financial success, safety awareness, excellence in programs and overall success
  • Act as Division Equipment Representative with the CRH National Fleet Operations Team to develop, improve, implement and sustain shop and equipment excellence programs
  • Participate in winter maintenance budgeting with Equipment and Finance for accurate budgeting

Education and/or Experience

  • Ten years of progressive shop, equipment maintenance and equipment management experience
  • Experience working with electronic equipment management systems preferred (CMMS, EAM, ERP)
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience in the construction and materials industry

Physical Requirements

  • Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person
  • Able to utilize a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations
  • May require sitting for extended periods of time

Work Environment

Usually normal office working conditions; the position may require work outside of normal business hours.

Compensation

$120,000–$140,000 base salary with up to 15% bonus potential.

Travel requirements

60–70%.
