About the Role
At Sabre Industries, we connect and power America’s communities with world-class utility and telecom solutions. This position is responsible for operating a forklift, overhead cranes, and other equipment to move, locate, relocate, stock, and count materials in accordance with production standards.
Responsibilities
- Assists machine operators, welders, and other personnel in loading/unloading, transporting raw, in-process, and finished materials throughout the facility.
- Uses forklifts and other heavy equipment such as cranes to safely and effectively move various sizes of steel plates and poles.
- Stages all stock and manufactured steel plate to production.
- Moves in-process and finished poles to appropriate areas.
- Abides by all Safety Standards and Policies including the use of all personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Performs routine safety inspections prior to operating equipment.
- Contributes to a safe working environment by maintaining quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness in your area of operation.
- Contributes to team effort by communicating and working well with others, as well as accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or any combination of education and experience.
- Forklift driving or crane/heavy equipment experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Skills & Abilities
- Must be able to effectively communicate in the English language within all levels of a team environment.
- Must be able to drive and operate a forklift.
- Must possess the ability to comply with safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must contribute to safety and quality control standards.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the success of the team.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
Physical Requirements
- Position requires work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
- Required PPE includes safety glasses, steel-toe metatarsal boots, and hearing protection worn at all times on the production floor, in addition to other specific PPE for certain tasks.
- Environment may include fluctuations in temperature, dust, and noise.
- Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions including heat and cold.
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to reach, climb, bend, stoop, sit, stand, and grasp.
- Must be able to stand and walk 100% of the shift.
- Must have good hand-eye coordination to operate overhead cranes.
- Must be able to pass commercial driver vision testing requirements.
