Equipment Operator: Excavator-Superior Construction-Mas-Tec Civil Joint Venture Project Job
Summary/Objective
Operate equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. This position will work with excavators with rubber or steel track, equipped with hydraulically powered bucket to transport fill or materials.
Essential Functions
- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Operates company equipment safely.
- Loading of trucks in timely manner.
- Excavate for various underground utilities at various depths and percentages of pitch.
- Observes hand signals, grade stakes or other markings when operating machines so that work can be performed to specifications.
Other
- Understand and comply with all Company Safety policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
- Assists with loading and unloading trucks & deliveries.
- Observes hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating equipment so that work can be performed in a safe and quality manner.
- Familiarity with excavations and heavy lifting.
- Experience in stockpiling.
- Ability to follow verbal directions from supervisors.

Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
- Field based role.
- Working on heavy civil and highway construction sites.
- The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
- The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Physical Demands
- Lifts heavy objects.
- Walks and stands for long periods of time.
- Performs physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination.
- Needs excellent stamina.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. This position will occasionally require long hours and weekend work. Average +/-50 hours per week.
Travel
The role requires no travel.
Required Education And Experience
- Must adhere to OSHA safety protocol, and work in a drug-free environment.
- Must be reliable/have reliable transportation.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
Preferred Education And Experience
Construction industry experience preferred.
Takes full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently
