Equipment Operator B
About the role
The Bureau of Engineering and Construction is searching for a motivated Equipment Operator B who enjoys working outdoors and tackling hands-on challenges. This role supports important construction projects that help maintain and improve facilities across the state.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, and trucks to complete construction tasks
- Drive tractor trailers to move equipment while ensuring secure loads and compliance with legal limits
- Perform inspections and routine maintenance including lubrication, adjustments, and minor repairs
- Carry out tasks such as pipe installation, concrete work, erosion control, site cleanup, and similar duties
- Interpret project blueprints and schematics to support accurate construction work
Requirements
This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license. It also requires the ability to perform essential job functions and possession of a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL).
Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A; or Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or Any equivalent combination of experience or training.

Schedule
Full-time employment with work hours of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. AWS (alternate work schedule) with a 4-day work week may be considered.
