Equipment Maintenance Technician (C-Shift Days)

About the role

This role is based at our Malta site, Fab 8—a 300mm leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing facility. As a Maintenance Technician, you will monitor, sustain, and improve equipment and processes in your assigned area while collaborating with production team members and area engineers. Responsibilities include monitoring equipment performance, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting issues using mechanical, electronic, and software skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks safely and responsibly in line with Fab 8 EHS&S policies.
• Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, supporting and engaging in training activities.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment as required by operating procedures.
• Monitor, control, and test semiconductor equipment for manufacturing readiness.
• Recover equipment from process interruptions, complete event documentation, and communicate shift pass-downs effectively.
• Prioritize and plan daily work and scheduled activities using time management skills.
• Work in a standing position for >85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks).
• Walk on uneven surfaces for >85% of a 12-hour shift.
• Lift, pull, and/or carry at least 50 pounds periodically throughout the shift (above 50lbs requires a two-person lift).
• Manually manipulate hand tools and small hardware for >85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks).
• Perform activities requiring climbing vertical ladders, bending at the waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching up/over, and crawling for >85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks).
• Utilize a computer (typing, visual screen time) for >85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks).
• Work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol, wearing required cleanroom clothing for a minimum of 10 hours a day.
• Wear upgraded PPE, including safety shoes, safety glasses, chemical splash apron and gloves, and a full-face shield when required.
• Comply with OSHA & NIOSH standard CFR 29 1910.134 (clean-shaven) to don and work in an N95 Dust Mask or other air-filtering devices, including a full-face respirator, for extended periods (>2 hours).
• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner, supporting Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• One of the following:
  • 2-year technical degree,
  • 2 years of relevant military experience, or
  • 4 years of relevant experience (e.g., automotive repair, BOCES, HVAC, aviation, cable installation, computer routing, telecommunications, electrical work).
• Basic reading, writing, and computer navigation skills (e.g., Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook).
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required cleanroom clothing.
• Ability to stand for extended periods during a 12-hour shift.
• Ability to lift equipment and tools (above 50lbs requires a two-person lift).
• Flexibility to work any shift, including alternating day or night shifts (3-4 days per week).

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology, military equivalent, trade equivalent, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of direct experience in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Project management skills, including the ability to innovate and execute solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to review Statistical Process Control charts, react to Out-of-Control conditions, and troubleshoot defects.
• Experience developing and enhancing operating procedures.
• Active participation in continuous improvement projects and skills development.
• Ability to read and comprehend schematics, blueprints, and electrical diagrams.
• Experience with troubleshooting and structured problem-solving techniques.
• Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.

Schedule

Alternating week shift schedules (subject to change):

• Shift C (days):
  • Week 1: Thursday to Saturday, 06:00 AM to 06:30 PM
  • Week 2: Wednesday to Saturday, 06:00 AM to 06:30 PM

Pay

Expected salary range: $43,100.00 – $70,600.00. The exact salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location.
