Equipment Maintenance Supervisor

About the Role

This position involves applying logical thought processes to provide verbal and written instruction, directing and influencing machine troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications. You will determine when to utilize internal and external resources for equipment repair and maintenance, adjust resources and schedules as needed, and review the effectiveness of maintenance activities.

You will also oversee technician performance, providing feedback, determining merit increases, and administering disciplinary actions in coordination with the team leader.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance in the assigned area.
• Maintain a weekly schedule of planned activities for the crew, balancing schedules with available resources and coordinating with manufacturing and logistics.
• Control and report equipment status, PM completion, unscheduled overtime, and other maintenance measures.
• Communicate effectively with crew, peers, and other groups within the company.
• Lead and influence analysis of equipment or systems to determine malfunctions and coordinate repair actions.
• Ensure technical availability of tools by developing and assigning appropriate staffing and resources.
• Coordinate with engineering resources to improve tool recovery and technician knowledge.
• Escalate issues to fab management to maintain critical communications and secure additional resources.
• Coach, counsel, and provide performance feedback; influence team selection and direction.
• Review records of repairs, calibrations, tests, preventative maintenance, spare parts, and procedures.
• Maintain 5S standards in work areas and shop; promote safe practices within the crew.
• Promote and maintain licensing of technicians for required State/Federal licenses and certificates.
• Schedule training and maintain training records for the maintenance crew.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of company manufacturing and engineering processes and procedures.
• Understand workplace hazards, including hazardous waste handling, and remain up to date on applicable trainings.
• Serve as an expert on SAP-PPM transactions and functions.
• Perform year-end/year-start SAP functions to close and generate blanket and statistical work orders.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in engineering technology, microelectronics technology, facilities maintenance, electrical/electronic technology, or management, or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree and Electrical license preferred.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of related industry experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, operating procedures, maintenance manuals, and other documents.
• Ability to write standard operational procedures, technical manuals, and other documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external customers.
• Ability to write and review routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to interpret and draw engineering drawings and sketches.
• Proficiency in basic math, algebra, geometry, and standard engineering formulas.
• Proficiency with computerized maintenance management software such as SAP-PPM and office software including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Ability to effectively apply and coach acquired knowledge and skills to optimize troubleshooting, utilization, and effectiveness of equipment and systems.
• Ability to logically manage multiple job tasks and schedule staff activities.
• Ability to work with people from diverse ethnic backgrounds individually and in a team environment.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to walk, use hands and fingers to handle tools and controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and wear cleanroom attire.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and wear protective gear and/or breathing devices.
