EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE MANAGER
Position Summary
The Equipment Maintenance Manager is responsible for the leadership, financial performance, and operational effectiveness of Branch Civil's equipment maintenance organization. This role provides leadership and oversight of shop operations, preventive maintenance programs, work order management processes, maintenance budgeting, outside repair activities, vendor performance, and shop personnel development. The Equipment Maintenance Manager works closely with Equipment Operations leadership to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, control maintenance costs, enhance workflow efficiency, and establish consistent operational standards across all maintenance functions.

This position reports to the Vice President of Equipment Operations.
Essential Functions
Shop Operations Leadership - Provide leadership and oversight for daily shop operations to ensure safe, efficient, and productive maintenance activities. Establish and sustain daily operating rhythms including shop communication, work planning and accountability reviews. Establish and reinforce consistent operating standards, expectations, and accountability throughout shop operations. Partner with shop supervisors to improve communication, execution, and follow-through on maintenance priorities. Monitor shop performance and implement process improvements that enhance productivity and service levels. Support operational planning to align maintenance resources with project and fleet demands.
Preventive Maintenance Program Management - Provide oversight and direction for the Equipment Operations preventive maintenance (PM) program. Improve preventive maintenance planning, scheduling, compliance tracking, and execution. Utilize preventive maintenance performance data to reduce equipment failures, improve planning, and maximize fleet availability. Develop and maintain key maintenance performance metrics, reviewing PM compliance to identify trends, remove barriers, and drive continuous improvement. Develop processes that improve maintenance consistency and extend equipment lifecycle performance. Partner with equipment leadership to establish maintenance standards and best practices.
Work Order & Maintenance Workflow Management - Oversee work order management processes to improve ownership, visibility, accountability, and completion rates. Develop and implement procedures for work intake, triage, prioritization, planning, and execution. Support implementation of estimated versus actual labor tracking and related performance metrics. Monitor work order aging and identify barriers impacting maintenance completion. Improve workflow processes to reduce equipment downtime and increase maintenance efficiency.
Outside Repair & Vendor Oversight - Manage and oversee outside repair providers, service vendors, and maintenance contractors. Monitor repair quality, communication, turnaround times, and cost effectiveness. Evaluate repair performance and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve service delivery. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure outside repairs support operational needs and equipment availability. Assist with development of vendor performance expectations and accountability measures. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives that improve equipment reliability while reducing the total cost of ownership.
Financial Management & Budget Oversight - Shop & Yard Organization - Establish standards for shop and yard organization, housekeeping, staging, and operational readiness. Promote ownership and accountability for maintaining safe, clean, and efficient work environments. Identify opportunities to improve material flow, equipment staging, and maintenance processes. Support implementation of visual management and organizational best practices. Leadership Development & Workforce Support - Coach, mentor, and support shop supervisors and maintenance personnel. Develop systems, procedures, and expectations that improve consistency and reduce reliance on individual work styles. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Assist with workforce planning, training initiatives, and employee development activities. Support performance management and succession planning efforts within Equipment Operations.
Safety & Compliance - Ensure maintenance operations comply with company policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable regulations. Promote safe work practices throughout all shop and yard operations. Partner with the Safety Department to address maintenance-related safety concerns and corrective actions. Support implementation of safety programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or 6-8 years of related experience in the equipment environment
Knowledge of standard business practices and procedures
3-5 years in a supervisory position
Strong communication skills; both oral and written
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations as they pertain to equipment operations
Compensation
Salary Min: $91,990.50
Salary Max: $157,700
Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
Travel
The employee will need to be able to travel to and from the shop office. They also frequent job site locations.
Work Environment
While performing duties on this job, the employee is frequently exposed to various indoor/outdoor climate conditions and temperatures. They will also be exposed to frequent fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, etc. Noise level exceeding 85 decibels will require hearing protection. Other hazards might include electrical shock, burns, explosives, radiant energy, mechanical hazards, etc. The employee will also be exposed to general shop office environments.

The employee must be able to lift or move up to 50lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position which typically requires 40 hours per week.
