About the role
Trane in the San Antonio and Austin offices are hiring for an Equipment Estimator II to join our team. In this role, you will closely interact with customers, account manager(s), other assigned project managers, technicians and suppliers to ensure timely completion of assigned estimates and project execution. Responsibilities include technical selection and pricing of equipment for each project. You must be able to provide estimating support to the equipment sales team.
Responsibilities
- Review Plans & Specifications and develop cost estimates, ensuring accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc. of Trane materials, sub-contractors, non-Trane purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.), and other construction-related activities to assist Account Managers in bidding projects.
- Provide knowledge and consultation in the form of developing facility-related solutions for the customer’s problems.
- Determine project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet the entire customer’s HVAC system design and installation requirements.
- Develop, evaluate, and discuss possible solutions with Account Manager, Project Manager, Sub-contractor, Supplier, and/or customer.
- Coordinate selection, pricing, and integration of equipment, controls, and services for each project.
- Prepare, finalize, and review preliminary and/or final proposal.
- Prepare equipment submittals and validate equipment selection.
- Assist Account Manager in determining proposal price, selling strategy, and develop project fulfillment schedule with project team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology or business management preferred with minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in estimating, project management, engineering, HVAC or construction management; or equivalent combination of education and industry related experience.
- Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; we prioritize practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with our leadership principles.
- Strong communication skills, proactive approach with willingness to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proven experience prioritizing tasks in order to meet tight deadlines within a high-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Familiarity with the operation of HVAC Systems and/or Temperature Controls preferred.
- Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
Schedule
Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.
Pay
Annual Base Salary Range: $56,300.00 - $101,394.99. Compensation is salary-based and incentive/commission eligible roles are not applicable for this position. The actual compensation will depend on elements such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
