About the Role
The position functions as a senior robotics advisor in partnership with the Group Lead, supporting a team dedicated to the development and integration of equipment into Honda facilities for both business plan and new model projects. Responsibilities include understanding key technical challenges for new applications, guiding team members from concept development through implementation, and supporting the ED-Robotics team to overcome project challenges. Additionally, the role involves mentoring associates, improving internal team processes, and participating in cross-functional department improvement activities and E/ER theme leadership.
Responsibilities
- Advise, guide, and mentor team members on technical matters, project management, and execution.
- Perform quality checks for robotic deliverables.
- Provide direct support to ED-Robotics planners driving New Model or Business Plan projects, including concept development, cost and schedule creation, and monitoring project deliverables.
- Engage in project leadership or support for new technology/E/ER theme activities.
- Support or lead the evolution of robotic design standards, methods, and processes.
- Roll up team KPIs related to QIP processes.
- Support, lead, or direct unit/group initiatives and business plan goals.
- Serve as the lead technical inspector and shipping evaluator for pre-SEV reviews.
- Lead or support recurrence prevention activities within the team or unit.
- Support the roll-up of team annual expense budgets and overall BP theme rollout.
Requirements
- Minimum Educational Qualifications: 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Technology Engineering, or a 2-year related technical degree (or equivalent) with 4 years of additional experience.
- Minimum Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience, ideally integrating industrial robotic systems.
Skills
- Working knowledge of industrial machinery and functional safety standards.
- Background in automated equipment development.
- Extensive category-specific technical knowledge (e.g., WE, AF, PA, PU).
- Excellent technical communication skills (both written and oral).
Working Conditions
- 75% Office environment – creation of engineering deliverables for automation solutions.
- 15% Offline Manufacturing floor – system-up support.
- 10% Online Manufacturing floor – system-up support and verification at any Honda facility.
- Must be willing to travel locally, regionally, and internationally as required on a project basis (to Honda facilities or external equipment vendors).
